What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme, it is managed by the NDIA, The National Disability Insurance Agency.

The NDIS helps to support Australians living with a permanent and significant disability. The NDIS recognises that disability related support is an entitlement, and each person has the right to choose they type of supports they need and where they access those supports from.

The NDIS is be funded by all Australian tax payers, and is provided to people with a disability to enable them to access the support they need to live an ‘ordinary life.’

The NDIS will provide funding to approximately 460,000 people throughout Australia.

The NDIS is about empowering the individual, YOU, to allow you to live a full and independent life.

The NDIS will help you to:

  • Access mainstream services
  • Participate within the community
  • Support your family and others who support you
  • Provide you with funding for the disability supports that you require.
