What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme, it is managed by the NDIA, The National Disability Insurance Agency.

The NDIS helps to support Australians living with a permanent and significant disability. The NDIS recognises that disability related support is an entitlement, and each person has the right to choose the type of supports they need and where they access those supports from.

In the next five years the NDIS will provide more than $22 billion in funding each year to an estimated 500,000 Australians who have a permanent and significant disability.

The NDIS is about empowering the individual, YOU, to allow you to live a full and independent life.

The NDIS will help you to:

  • Access mainstream services
  • Participate within the community
  • Support your family and others who support you
  • Provide you with funding for the disability supports that you require.
